Sensible BC makes mayoral push in Nelson

On the eve of the local elections could a push from the Sensible BC cannabis legalization group help decide the outcome of Nelson’s mayoral race?

Sensible BC has endorsed Deb Kozak.

It called every land line asking voters who they planned to vote for.

John Dooley leads that poll at over 30%.

But with Deb Kozak at 24% and with 30% of voters still undecided Sensible BC Director Dana Larsen hopes the group’s strong presence in Nelson can help sway things.

The Sensible BC phone poll – which is not scientific- showed a 15% support figure for Pat Severyn.

At Wednesday’s mayoral forum Kozak and Severyn said they are very much behind getting the marijuana laws changed.

Dooley says he supports a Union of BC Municipalities call for decriminalization but at the moment it’s illegal and as Police Board chair he’s responsible for upholding the law.
