Armed robbery accused guilty of escape attempt

The co-accused in the rash of armed robberies in our area has pleaded guilty to trying to make a break for it.

Andrew Stevenson has pleaded guilty to escaping lawful custody when being brought into Nelson court in September. He dropped his crutches and ran off before being tackled by a Sheriff.

He was injured back in April during his initial arrest.

Stevenson is expected to be sentenced in January.

This is a minor matter compared to the much more serious charges he and partner Krista Kalmikoff face. That’s related to the armed robberies of various financial institutions and a store.

They are scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing late January.

A trial date has not been set.
