An unlicensed cannabis dispensary in Grand Forks has stopped serving its members across the counter.
But they hope city council can help them re-open in future.
The Kootenays Medicine Tree – which deals with cannabis creams and oils – faced charges after RCMP responded to complaints.
They’ve now officially presented to council calling for support “in principal” to keep helping locals in medical need. Their delegation featured special guests including Kyla Williams the Okanagan infant who is given cannabis oil for her seizures.
The outlet’s director Jim Leslie says city council support won’t change the laws but would give them the confidence to risk re-opening their store front.
He’s going to try to apply for a Health Canada licence even though cannabis derivatives don’t fall under the current legislation.
