The mother of one of the plaintiffs in the successful “death with dignity case” is delighted with today’s Canadian Supreme Court decision.
It has overturned the ban on doctor-assisted suicide in certain extreme circumstances.
Anne Fomenoff lives in Castlegar.
Her daughter Gloria Taylor — who died of ALSÂ in 2012 — was part of the case and had already won a BC Supreme Court ruling.
We asked Fomenoff how her daughter would feel about things today.

Fomenoff, 87, says the ruling has helped open the door for all families to discuss death more openly.
Canada has a year to amend its laws.
