Push for better seniors transport

A local group figures there can be improvements to transport service for seniors.

This from Corinne Younie – the Coordinator for the Age Friendly Community Initiative”- after a major transport forum recently. It included BC Transit,municipal bus services,Interior Health, Car Share and volunteer driver groups

She says for example they’ve asked IH to educate front-line staff about transit realities.

Other ideas include an occasional non-stop bus service from Nelson to Trail and back …and subsidies for volunteer drivers.

Younie expects some changes to be rolled out this year.
