Castlegar to create asset plan

The City of Castlegar is looking to create one comprehensive picture of its infrastructure.

Director of Transportation and Civic Works Chris Barlow says that is why they are applying for a $10,000 UBCM grant to help complete an asset management assessment.

The city will match the grant.

The plan will help Council and staff make decisions on how infrastructure is maintained and what exactly to invest in and when.

Rossland recently came under fire from the province’s Auditor General for Local Government for not properly managing their capital assets and making decisions on incomplete information that was potentially negligent of taxpayer’s money.
