Nelson man arrested after vehicle strikes pedestrian, pole

A 54-year-old Nelson man has been arrested after his vehicle struck a pedestrian and a pole in a Nelson parking lot.

The Nelson Police Department said community members reported the crash on Sept. 11 in the 300 block of Anderson Street.

Officers attended the scene and spoke with witnesses before locating the driver at his home.

Police said the nature of the incident and signs of impairment led to the man’s arrest for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.

Officers also issued a blood demand to the man and seized blood samples, which will be sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis.

The investigation is ongoing.
