West Kootenay/Boundary hospital taxes to rise 4.2%

You’ll see a 4.2 per cent increase in your hospital taxes this year.

That’s the decision of the West Kootenay/Boundary Regional Hospital District board which also decided to contribute $1.5 million to reserves.

Chair Marguerite Rotvold says that will bring the total in the reserve to $7.8 million.

It’s capped at $10 million but some directors indicated they would be willing to see it go higher still.

The fund could be tapped for major projects or emergency repairs.
