Local credits for Climate Action sign-up

The RDCK was the biggest local recipient of the Province’s Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program.

The Regional District received over $60,000 as part of the initiative that rewards communities who signed the Climate Action Charter and report on their progress in green projects.

The RD’s Sangita Sudan says they receive grants based on annual fossil fuel reductions.

Sudan says a recent initiative saw the greenhouse gas levels in the Creston landfill reduced by 839 tonnes last year.

Among some of our others areas to receive revenue were  the RDKB ($36,000), Nelson ($35,000) and Trail ($30,000).
