The city of Trail has concerns when it comes to the SPCA’s request for the RDKB to support a new facility in the region.
The SPCA has asked the RDKB – and potentially the RDCK – to provide $550,000 for a new facility in the region as the current one is not up to code and will be shut down next year.
Part of their proposal is a limited service veterinary clinic in the new facility if they receive regional support.
Corporate Administrator Michelle McIsaac says that raised a red flag for the city.
Also Trail has potential issues with the SPCA saying after their contract expires this year they have no interest in patrolling the community and providing kennels at the facility.
Staff has recommended their director Mayor Mike Martin vote against the motion at Wednesday night’s RDKB Board meeting.
