KLH laundry concerns still have traction:mayor

The mayor of Nelson is brushing off the lack of enough support from Kootenay Boundary governments on the hospital laundry issue.

Deb Kozak says it’s somewhat disappointing not to secure the endorsement of the wider region in opposing Interior Health’s possible privatization of laundry service , but …

She’ll meet the Health Minister at September’s Union of BC Municipalities Convention (UBCM) to express concerns about the potential 17 full-time job losses.

Talks with IH are ongoing and she says it’s encouraging that no decision on moving the laundry has yet been made.

Kozak says Nelson failed to get enough votes at the regional government convention because of rules around late resolutions.
