RDKB to explore new SPCA concept

The RDKB has formed a committee to look at the feasibility of a new SPCA facility in the region.

This is a result of a face to face meeting between the two parties last week after the non-profit animal care society asked the Regional District to pitch in 25% of a new $1.6 million facility.

RDKB Chair Grace McGregor says after fruitful discussions the committee will take a close look at a broad issue.

McGregor says she’s optimistic a partnership can be made and the SPCA provides a significant service.

The current facility in Trail no longer meets safety standards and will be shut down June 2016.
