Tree planting record

Local teams have helped set a Guinness world record for most trees planted in one hour!

This from Interfor’s David Jackson who had a group of approximately 30 as part of yesterday’s North America wide attempt organized by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative.

Jackson says his crew planted eight thousand saplings south of Naskusp and a total of roughly 200,000 were simultaneously planted across the continent.

Fruitvale’s Atco Wood Products also had a team planting north of Rossland.

The project had over 14,000 people participating.

Jackson says Guinness will review the numbers over the next year.
