It’s the lowest snow pack in the West Kootenay in 30 years.
This from B.C River Forecast Centre Hydrologist Tobi Gardner who speaking after the release of their May 15th snow survey.
The region has only 55% of the normal levels.
Gardner says its the result of a very warm spring across the province.
The average provincial snowpack level is at a record low as well.
The South Coast only has 11% of their normal numbers.
Gardner adds low snow packs could lead to negative effects for aquatic habitats.
