Too many speedsters on local roads

Local police want the motoring public to slow down!

This from West Kootenay Traffic Services and Nelson Integrated Road Safety Unit who’ve fined 13 drivers over the past two weekends for excessive speeding.

WKTS Sgt John Ferguson says the numbers were understandably high during May long weekend but the trend continued the following week.

He says they pulled over a pair of impaired drivers the long weekend too.

Excessive speeding is 40km an hour or more over the limit.

Ferguson says the highest speed over the past two weekends was 170 kmh in a 100 kmh zone.
