GF councillor awaiting court papers

Lawyers for the city of Grand Forks have until mid July to serve court papers on councillor Julia Butler.

City spokesperson Sarah Winton says the Community Charter states the court application needs to be done within 45-days of the alleged basis of disqualification.

That happened around May 25th.

Butler had initially thought she’d be served the papers by now.

Winton says they’re liaising with their legal team on what information they can share with the public.

A rally in support of Butler -arranged by anti water meter activists – will happen at city hall Friday at noon.
