Be ready for winter driving changes:ICBC

ICBC is asking us to get prepared for changing and challenging winter driving conditions.

Driving too fast for the road conditions is a factor in most speed related crashes. Throughout November, police across BC will be looking for drivers travelling at unsafe speeds.

ICBC says make sure your tires are rated for the conditions you’ll be driving in and check tire pressure regularly . Pressure drops in cold weather and over-inflated tires can reduce gripping.

And when severe winter conditions arrive, consider alternatives like using local transit.

In the Southern Interior, speed-related crashes that result in injury or fatality increase by over 90% between November and January.
