Local churches to gather for climate change discussion

A local church minister is not surprised about the Pope’s call for action on the climate.Michael Hare, with the Communities of Faith in Trail, Rossland, Beaver Valley and Salmo, is speaking following Pope Francis’ climate change encyclical released yesterday.

We asked Hare why he thinks it has taken so long for a Pope to comment on climate change.

He says first off, the church is a very conservative institution.

Hare says his churches will join many others in the region on June 28 for a day of celebration and discussion about the climate.
