It’s the opposite of what we’d expect from the BC River Forecast Centre this time of year.
Instead of the customary late spring high stream advisories, the agency is now issuing low stream bulletins.
It says the creeks and rivers on Vancouver Island for example are low to extreme-low and many are at all-time record lows.
The hot,dry spring following the low snow pack winter has impacted all of BC Â including our region.
Last week’s measurements show snow levels in the boundary at just 3% of normal and 11% in the West Kootenay.
It says our regional river levels are now what we’d expect to see mid-July into August. We have more very hot, dry weather to come this week.
