Education-enforcement balance on GF water restrictions

Grand Forks needs a balance between education and enforcement when it comes to water restrictions.

That’s the word from CAO Doug Allin in light of the Level 3 drought rating the region has reached according to the province.

Next week council will again debate whether to move to sprinkler use once a week .

It didn’t happen last month, in part because some councillors wanted the current alternating day sprinkler use better enforced first.

Some residents are also questioning just how stressed the aquifir water supply really is.

The Level 3 drought has prompted a ban on angling in local rivers such is the low flow and high water temperature.
