Nelson city hall is balking at a proposal to build a gazebo over the commemorative Chinatown rock.
Staff see several problems and suggest it be put somewhere other than the corner of Hall and Vernon.
But proponent Claus Schunke insists it needs to go in the same place as the well-established rock.
Staff say the gazebo would need footings and those might interfere with infrastructure in the area.
But Schunke isn’t buying it.
