Work has begun on resurfacing a portion of the Great Northern rail trail above Nelson.
Project manager Jeff Phillips says their goals are better drainage and an easier ride for cyclists.
The work will take three weeks and require some periodic trail closures.
Selkirk Paving has the contract.
