New Morning Mountain trails celebrated

A ribbon-cutting Tuesday on Morning Mountain marked the completion of the rural Nelson Trans-Canada Trail project.

Four years of work has added more than ten kilometers of mountain biking trails to the recreation area.

BC trail co-ordinator Sarah Meunier says it was a collaboration between several agencies.

A Nelson Cycling Club representative is gratified by how much use the new trails are getting.

Joel McBurney says the terrain has already proven extremely popular.

Other groups involved include the Regional District of Central Kootenay and Rec Sites and Trails BC.

Teck Trail operations and the Columbia Basin Trust also provided funding.
