Cougar spotted next to daycare in Nelson

The Nelson Police are warning residents, schools and daycares in the upper Fairview neighborhood after a cougar was spotted in the area Friday morning.

Officers responded just after 7:30 am after a resident in the area noticed the animal at the corner of 9th and Davies Streets while dropping her child off at the nearby daycare.

Here’s Constable Brian Weber.

Weber says he patrolled the area for about an hour this morning but the animal eluded him.

He says conservation officers have been notified and personnel will be in the area as much as possible today.
