New multi-sport complex eyed for Nelson

The Nelson Tennis Club is partnering with School District 8 for a new multi-sport complex.

Sd8 is funding part of the facility that will go behind LV Rogers Secondary School.

The district is chipping in $102,000 for the complex which will include four tennis courts, three picketball courts, two basketball half-courts and a space for road hockey.

Tennis club president Keith Bridger says right now the area is run-down but it has potential.

He says they have a great coach on staff that will work with the students once the facility is built

Construction is pegged to start next spring pending the success of a Columbia Basin Trust recreational infrastructure grant application.

The total cost for the project is around $300,000.
