Suspected impaired driver led police on pursuit

NELSON, B.C. – Nelson police put up roadblocks by the bridge entrance to the city after a driver led a plainclothes officer on a pursuit.

Police say the car, a Sedan, had been stolen in Castlegar.
The driver evaded an unmarked car driven by an officer and continued to drive into a school zone.
The car crashed into a light post near the Hume School, before disappearing into Fairview and across the bridge, sergeant Brian Weber told MyNelsonNow.com from the scene.

Police temporarily sealed off the road back into Nelson with single lane alternating traffic, controlling drivers.
On Monday afternoon the driver had been located after additional units took up pursuit.
The driver is currently under investigation for suspected impaired driving.
