A $38 a year tax increase for the average Trail homeowner is small compared to other communities who have done projects similar to the proposed Riverfront Centre.
So says Silver City Mayor Dieter Bogs after council decided Tuesday that 50% of the annual debt payments of a near $6 million 25 year loan would be handled by their industrial tax bass.
Bogs believes with the annual impact for taxpayers under $40 the public will support the facility in the November 15th referendum.
Bogs admits he was disappointed to learn Teck Trail Operations wouldn’t provide extra financial support for the project.
The Columbia Basin Trust will donate half a million dollars pending the referendum.result.
