Local political leaders sign letter to CP Rail

A heavyweight letter to CP Rail from all three levels of government in Castlegar.

The letter is signed by federal MP Alex Atamamenko, MLA Katrine Conroy and mayor Lawrence Chernoff.

It calls on the national transportation giant to come up with a reasonable compromise regarding the change of scheduling that sees a train rumble through town with its horn blaring in the middle of the night.

The letter states it’s wrong and unfair the residents have been victimized by the changes.


Atamanenko says he could bring the matter up with the federal Transportation Commission but first wants to see what response he gets from CPR.
