Still demand for Trail skatepark

The community in the Silver City still wants a skatepark.

This from Patrick Audet with the Friends of the Trail Skate Park committee after new Councillor Carol Dobie suggested a needs assessment might be in order as the project has been 20 years in the making.

Audet says they re-assured Dobie at their first meeting last week that the community does in fact still want this outdoor facility.

Audet also highlighted Trail’s 2013 recreational Master Plan that has an outdoor skate park as a key recommendation.

The project had an original price tag of $550,000 but the City estimates that is now closer to $850,000.

Just over $350,000 has been raised so far (including a conditional grant from the city).
