New tourist camp/cabin site for Rossland

Rossland council has received initial plans for what could become a substantial new tourist amenity.

A developer wants to build a camp site for up to a hundred people and then cabins that would accommodate about a hundred more.

Council has approved first reading of the re-zone application as it’s on a piece of rural residential land on Red Mountain Road.

Mayor Kathy Moore notes the proponent wants to target the budget traveller and families and Rossland doesn’t have much of that to offer.

Moore says city staff have had a good look at the idea and things like water supply and sewer will be handled within the city’s plans.
