After three years of debate and discussion Nelson’s Hall Street corridor project is a “go”.
The majority of council has voted to approve design plans that remove most of the traffic flow concerns.
The tender will now go out on Phase One of the pedestrian-friendly revitalization.
Mayor Deb Kozak says it’s about a lot more than addressing ageing water and sewer pipes.
The $4 million project will require no borrowing or extra taxes.
The cost will be covered by gas tax revenue, reserve funds and upgrades already within the regular budget.
