Big response to Castlegar waste collection survey

Residents of Castlegar are interested in what their solid waste and recycling collection program will look like in the future.

This from councillor Sue Heaton-Sherstobitoff as they received over 350 online and mail in responses to a survey asking what should be included in a new service after the current contract expires in May.

We asked her if the volume of feedback reflects concerns about what is seen as a step backwards following the recent roll out of the Multi Material BC stewardship program.

The new MMBC program no longer collects some curbside waste like glass.

The survey included options for curbside garbage and recycling as well as the possibility of a food scraps program.
