Power out on North Shore, Highway 3A reopens

A storm this afternoon knocked down power lines on Nelson’s North Shore, cutting power from Johnstone road all the way to Balfour.

A recording on Nelson Hydro’s outage line says power has been restored to Harrop, Procter, and Balfour.

However, it’s expected to be out on Mill Creek Road for another couple of hours.

It will also take another two hours to get the electricity back on between Emory’s Corner and Six Mile.

Some homes at Grohman Narrows will be without power overnight.

Highway 3A was closed for a while this afternoon six km east of Nelson due to downed lines.

But it has since re-opened to single lane traffic.
