56 feral cats have been removed from a West Trail neighborhood since last spring.
The city first became aware of the issue last year as the untamed cats seemed to be originating from one property.
The cats aren’t owned by the resident there they do feed the animals.
Corporate Administrator Michelle McIsaac says the SPCA has been trapping the cats.
The SPCA does have capacity issues for harbouring Cats.
City council approved an amendment to their Animal Control by law last night that will reduce the amount of cats residents can own from 6 to 3.
However, staff suggested that the amendment may not fix the issue in West Trail since the resident doesn’t claim ownership of the cats.
