Truck fire near Nelson could have been worse

A freak fire on Nelson’s outskirts could have been a lot worse had it been drier.

This from Captain Jeff Hebert with Nelson Fire Rescue after crews responded quickly to a weekend incident on Bealby Road.

It appears the engine of a pick-up truck ignited and it was connected to a travel trailer with propane tanks.

Almost 300-square feet of forested area was burnt.

Crews got to things before the gas tanks blew.

Hebert says the homeowners were “fire smart” so the property had little extra flammables around it.
