North shore wildfire shows some “creep” downhill

The latest measurement of the wildfire on Nelson’s north shore has been put at 450-hectares.

And there has been some downward creep.

But Fire Information Officer Noelle Kekula says there is no cause for alarm as this is just the nature of the blaze.

97 fire-fighters are now on the ground and most are locals. They’re joined by 18 support staff, 9 pieces of heavy equipment and 3 helicopters.

Thursday will see temperatures in the high 30’s but there’s a possibility of some rain over the weekend.
