The thick blanket of smoke that is covering our Southern Interior has some good and bad elements when it comes to addressing this very lengthy wildfire season.
Chief Fire Information Officer Kevin Skrepnek says it’s so thick it’s acting like cloud cover and helping to suppress fire activity.
But there’s also a down side too because new fires are tough to spot in all that smoke.
The amount of wildfires sparking around BC is down compared to the very hectic July.
That’s mainly due to a reduction in lightning activity.
