New cost sharing money to help communities manage their urban deer population is a good step forward.
This from Grand Forks City Councillor Chris Hammett.
She hopes some of the $100,000 a year can find its way to them, and not only for a possible future cull, but for ongoing expenses in running their deer committee.
The funding also comes with a commitment to set up a provincial urban deer advisory committee.
The Grand Forks Deer Committee has applied for a permit to cull 80 animals although council would still have to approve the move.
