UPDATE: brief court appearances for Nelson armed robbery suspects

We now know the names of the couple charged with the armed robbery in Nelson Friday.

33 year old Andrew Stevenson and 26 year Krista Kalmikoff were arrested after a police chase.

They are charged with one count each of robbery although other charges may follow.

Kalmikoff – who is from Nelson – remains in custody and she will likely have a bail hearing Wednesday following a quickly adjourned hearing Monday.

The Nelson District Credit Union was robbed Friday afternoon.

The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) is involved and will probe the circumstances and police actions – or inactions – surrounding the injury of the suspect.
