Kootenay Co Op hosts Day of Action re ALR changes

Changes appear imminent regarding legislation around the Agricultural Land Reserve.

And local food producers and environmental groups have called a day of action Saturday to try to stop the government’s move to allow development in parts of the ALR.

Jocelyn Carver – Marketing Manager of the Co-Op in Nelson – says they’ll host opportunities for citizens to have their say. That’s because there has been no public consultation on this.

Carver says between 10 am and 3 pm Saturday you can have a photo taken next to a poster, sign a petition or letter and the Co-Op organisers will have it sent off to the relevant government officials there and then.
