Get ready for some heavy rain.

A spiralling system is heading from the US into southern Alberta.

But local weather expert Ron Lakeman says southeast BC is getting hit as well starting with Castlegar and around Kootenay Pass which could see 20-millimetres.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement saying some isolated areas could even see 25 millimeters.

The BC River Forecast Centre says some small to medium watersheds in our region and the Kootenay River will see rising levels.

Flooding is not expected.
