Customers on the Balfour Water System are asked to prepare for service interruptions and possible water quality notices. The Regional District of Central Kootenay says work for watermain tie-ins will be happening in lower Balfour which includes Highway 3A, Balfour Wharf Road, Ferry Landing Road, and the Busk Road area. Many residents and businesses will have service interruptions, but will be notified in advance.
You can receive notifications directly by phone or text message through the RDCK’s Water Notification Service by calling 1-833-223-2662. There will also be notices posted in the community and on sandwich boards. The contractor will coordinate directly with property occupants for any individual water-service connection interruptions.
The RDCK says as of June 27th, 1300 metres of new watermain had been completed. The next phase of work involves reservoir replacement, back-up power and universal metering, and should be completed this fall.
