Body found in West Arm of Kootenay Lake

The body of a man has been recovered from the West Arm of Kootenay Lake near Nelson and it could be that of the missing camper Paul Tayes.

However that could not be immediately confirmed.

RCMP Sgt Darryl Little says a woman reported seeing what appeared to be a body near Crescent Beach this morning.


The 56 year old’s family has been notified.

Crescent Beach is around a kilometre downstream of Kokanee Creek Park which is where the man was last seen 8 days ago.

A week of exhaustive searches around the park failed to find any sign of him.
