Nelson Mayor interested in developers take on NDYC housing

The new Mayor of Nelson says she’s looking forward to discussing the possibilities of creating much-needed housing on top of the Youth Centre building.

Deb Kozak calls a feasiblity study that could see up to 33 units built on top of the existing Lake St. site “intriguing “.


Kozak says it’s a discussion the new council will have before any call for interest and she expects there would be community input as well.

A report suggests two-storeys of affordable homes could be built on the youth centre for about $2.4 m while improving that publicly- owned stucture too.

Such a project may have non-profit or private development appeal.
