IIO investigators remain in Castlegar after fatal shooting

A brief update from the Independent Investigations Office of BC which is probing the fatal shooting of a man by the RCMP in Castlegar last week.

The IIO says its investigators will remain in Castlegar as they do additional forensic analysis.

Also the independent team only took over the physical control of the scene on the Kinnaird bridge Friday afternoon. This is because of travel delays. The incident happened Thursday night.

The IIO says according to RCMP the man was shot during an attempted traffic stop. He died of his injuries at KBRH.

The IIO says they interviewed witnesses to the incident over the weekend.

At least two police officers were on the scene when the shooting happened.
