Man seriously injured in downtown stabbing, suspect arrested

Nelson police have arrested a man after another man was seriously injured in an alleged stabbing last week.

The department said BC Emergency Health Services notified police about an injured male in the 100 block of Vernon Street on June 30. Officers responded at about 5:15 p.m. and located a adult man with serious injuries consistent with being stabbed.

The victim was transferred to the hospital for medical treatment.

Investigators identified a suspect who was known to the victim and searched the area with assistance from the RCMP Police Dog Service.

Police said evidence was recovered near the railway tracks and seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

The suspect was located at a home on Perrier Road at around 7:10 p.m. He was arrested without incident and transferred to the department’s cells and held for bail.
