RDKB pondering sewer options

Will the RDKB upgrade their existing sewage treatment plant or have to build an entirely new facility?

It’s a question being asked as the regional district goes through its lengthy liquid waste management plan for Greater Trail.

GM of Environmental Services Allan Stanley says to meet waste water discharge regulations they need to upgrade to secondary treatment before it goes into the Columbia River.

But secondary treatment goes beyond the capacities of the existing sewage facility.

A steering committee will decide this month if the new or upgrade options should go to public consultation.
