Columbia Avenue construction enters second phase

Marwest and the City of Castlegar are advising the public that the second phase of the Columbia Avenue
Complete Streets Project starts this week.

The newly affected area is between 15th Street and 17th Street. The intersection at 15th Street and Columbia Avenue will temporarily become an uncontrolled intersection as crews remove light standards, upgrade the utilities and conduct utility tie-ins.

At any intersection where a yield or stop sign is present, drivers facing the sign must yield the right of
way to any other motorist approaching the intersection. You must also yield the right of way to any highway construction or maintenance vehicles that have their warning lights in operation.

There will still be construction from 13th to 15th streets while crews install sidewalks, gutters, tree cells and bike paths.

The water truck will continue to water areas where dust is present both on Columbia Avenue and its
side streets.
