The fight to bring the Slocan Park wildfire under control has moved into a new phase.
More than a week after the blaze erupted crews are now doing controlled burns of an area of around 50 metres leading towards the control lines that have been set up on the southern flank.
Information Officer Julie Castonguay has watched the progress and says it’s being done carefully.
The community and motorists on Highway 6 will have noticed more smoke and flames.
90 ground crew are now on site being assisted by multiple helicopters.
