Reliable hospital in Trail key to attracting skilled workers:LCIC

Without having a reliable hospital in Trail it will be very hard to attract other skilled workers in the region.

So says the Chair of the Lower Columbia Community Development Team Society Mike Martin after this week’s news of a new Rural Family Medicine Residency Program being launched in the Kootenay Boundary by UBC.

Martin says they undertook a work force renewal intiative a few years ago that they saw as a key element to building these capacities in the region.

 

The new medical program is a two year initiative hat will see four students receive enhanced hands-on experience.

It will also look to recruit physicians to rural areas.
